The Person of The Holy Spirit
by Charlie Hamilton
Just as Jesus went to prepare a place for us, He also sent the person of the Holy Spirit to prepare us for that place.
Let’s face it, before we were born again, you and I had total rule [Lordship] over our own lives. We did what we wanted — when we wanted — how we wanted, and no one; ABSOLUTELY NO ONE was going to tell us what to do or how to do it. However, all that changed once we were born again. The Holy Spirit began the process of preparing the way of Jesus “AS LORD” in our lives. Under the direction of the Holy Spirit we then began the process of working out [walking out] our salvation with fear and trembling.
Just like what goes up must come down, what goes in must come out.
The “Christ in you” comes in as a seed during the new birth experience, however it is God’s desire that you and I be conformed to the image of Christ.
The precious seed of “Christ in you” will continue to lie dormant unless watered by the Word [scriptures] and further energized and illuminated by the person and light of the Spirit of God, which can only come through and by way of the baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire.
Sadly, the spiritual growth of many of God’s people is currently hindered simply because they’re afraid of the person of the Holy Spirit.
Why is it that people can accept the concept of a “Casper, the friendly ghost,” but have an issue believing in “the friendly person of the Holy Ghost?”
Jesus promised before he ascended into heaven that he would send the person of The Holy Spirit as our helper.
John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter [helper], that he may abide with you forever. [Emphasis mine]
John 14:26 But the Comforter [helper], which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. [Emphasis mine]
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.
Jesus sent Him as our friendly helper. Isn’t it about time that we fully embrace Him?
